Any patient of Dr. Garrett will tell you that she has a natural instinct for helping people. She strives to have a positive impact on every patient she treats — so they can do the same for others. Even ...as a young girl growing up in Chicago she always wanted to help people in whatever way she was able, so today, she's thrilled to be serving patients of her Evergreen Park community.
Dr. Garrett believes that wellness is driven by incremental health improvements, or as she puts it: "Small changes bring about large gains." Once she helps a patient become happy and pain-free enough to continue doing what makes them feel fulfilled, she's helped them achieve wellness.
She maintains her own wellness by cooking nutritious meals, shopping, doing hot yoga and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She likes to inspire people (and herself) with her favorite Oprah Winfrey quote: "Step out of the history that is holding you back. Step into the new story you are willing to create." It reminds her that it's never too late to achieve your goals or make changes, and that each hour and minute is a chance for a new start.
Dr. Garrett has enabled "new starts" for hundreds of patients by specializing in the Webster Technique and pediatric chiropractic care. She's also a certified acupuncturist.
After getting her BS in exercise science at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Dr. Garrett earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic at Logan University, where she served as class secretary and president of the Student American Black Chiropractic Association (SABCA). She interned at the St. Louis VA.
