  1. Eating out? Make smart choices. Choose grilled, watch out for high-calorie salads and box half your entrée when it arrives.

  2. Flip the food pyramid! Vegetables and healthy fats should be your base, followed by protein, then fruit and last—minimal to no grains and sugar!

  3. Make the most of breakfast. The rumors are true: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Focus on fiber and protein (think: overnight oats).

  4. Take Vitamin D daily. Vitamin D is one of the most important supplements out there! It assists the nervous system, betters bone health and increases immune system function.

  5. Build muscle and energy with protein. Most of us aren’t getting enough protein in our diets, which is why a naturally-sourced protein powder should be on your supplement list.

  6. Take a probiotic. You’ve probably heard that probiotics are good for healthy gut bacteria, but a good probiotic can also aid in protein absorption.

  7. Avoid slouching. A slouched position causes your body to work double-time, wasting energy and straining your muscles, ligaments and joints.
