Can a Chiropractic Adjustment Increase Your Happiness? By Dr. Mike McGovern

Do you remember watching
your parents grow old right in front of your eyes? I’m watching it happen to my parents right now… They sit more and move less than they did
when I was a kid.
Each time I leave their house, I am filled with happiness and sadness… Happy that I got to spend time with them, grateful they’re still a part of
my life and also sad that they’re slowing down at an age I feel is far too young to start doing that.
Maybe you have parents or grandparents you can remember that happening to. I remember the last 10 years of my grandfather’s life before he passed, and
he seemed to get meaner and crankier during that time.
His back prevented him from being able to stand up straight… In fact, I can’t remember the last time I saw him stand up straight with his shoulders
back and his chest out… He seemed to have a perpetual forward lean that kept getting worse.
But he never complained about it. A stubborn, old Polish man would never do such a thing. He would never let you know how much he hurt.
But I could see it.
He wasn’t usually a joy to be around, and you or I wouldn’t be in a very good mood either if we had chronic pain. Pain makes it extremely difficult to
fully experience the joy of living.
Chiropractic adjustments can boost your body’s natural endorphins, moving you out of pain and up to better emotional states. In 2013, a study published
in the Journal of Upper Cervical Chiropractic Research set out to explore the link between chiropractic care and mental health. Research showed that
out of the 2,818 patients undergoing chiropractic care, 76 percent reported an improvement in their mental/emotional health.
So, who is the crankiest or most irritable person you know?
They might have pain they don’t talk about.
They definitely need to have their spine checked for misalignments.
Remember, there’s no rule that says your body HAS to break down at 30, 40 or 50 years.
