fbpx Evaluation & Diagnosis: How chiropractors treat pain at the source

Pain Relief Begins Here

Effective pain relief starts with a comprehensive evaluation and accurate diagnosis.

At Chiro One, we treat the source of your pain, not just your symptoms. Our outcomes-based, conservative care is proven to be therapeutically effective and delivers strong patient outcomes. Our exceptional track record of patient satisfaction is a testament to our high-quality chiropractic care.

A Holistic Picture of  Your
Health, Wellness and Goals

To properly diagnose your pain and create a personalized plan for your care, during your first appointment we’ll perform a physical examination and review your health history, lifestyle, and wellness goals, including any factors which could affect your wellness (i.e. your work life, hobbies, recent or past injuries, sleep habits, diet, etc.). This holistic view provides your doctor with a better picture of your health which enables a more accurate diagnosis.

A Comprehensive Evaluation
for a More Accurate Diagnosis

During your first appointment, your doctor will perform a complete neuro-musculoskeletal assessment that includes:

  • Posture evaluation to determine proper anatomical alignment, muscle symmetry, and identify any abnormalities.
  • Functional movement tests to evaluate any potential performance-limiting movement patterns.
  • Range of motion test to determine any limitations around joint movement.
  • Orthopedic tests to evaluate musculoskeletal impairment.
  • Neurological tests to check the function of your nervous system.
  •  X-rays, if medically necessary, to diagnose conditions that may be the causes of musculoskeletal pain.

Why do Some Patients
Receive X-Rays?

At Chiro One, our doctors prescribe X-Rays only when medically necessary. X-Rays help the doctor to pinpoint the exact source of pain and/or dysfunction and rule out medical causes of pain such as fractures or dislocations. To aid in diagnosing and treating patients, our doctors are supported by a full-time Radiologist. Patients diagnosed with fractures or dislocations are referred to a medical specialist.

How Does my Diagnosis Determine my Care?

Your doctor will evaluate the results of your physical exam, your health history, your daily habits and wellness goals to determine your diagnosis and create a personalized treatment plan.  Our highly tailored treatment plans consist of manual adjustments to improve joint motion and physical function combined with active therapies to support the adjustment, help improve balance, flexibility, and stability, correct and retrain posture, improve muscle strength and mobility.

Did you know? Chiropractic care is recommended by the Joint Commission

In 2018, The Joint Commission released new safety standards recommending the use of non-opioid treatment options as a way to eliminate or reduce the amount of opiates used or prescribed, resulting in a reduction of side effects and the potential for addiction and abuse. They recommend spinal manipulation (chiropractic) as one of these options and state that healthcare organizations should provide clinicians with the information and support they need to facilitate the use of non-opiate treatment options for their patients.
