Find your love! Part II

Have you found your love? Earlier this week, I told you a story about the two Joes who are doing what they love, day in and day out. Their “job” isn’t really a job. It’s a passion, which gives them meaning far greater than the income or rewards that come with a career, job or title. As my father used to say, “Boy, when you do what you love, you’ll never work another day in your life!”
Today I’m going to share with you another story about an incredible person I met while traveling.
Several years ago, I went to Belize and had the opportunity to tour the ancient Mayan temples in Lamanai, Belize. While waiting to get on the plane that would take our group across the country, then we’d take a boat down the New River through the jungle that led to the majestic artifacts; our guide Gio (short for Giovanni) started to share with us a bit about what we were about to see. As incredible as the jungle, howler monkeys, prehistoric birds and unbelievable temples were, nothing was as memorable as Gio.
Gio is renowned as one of the best guides in the country. After spending a day with him, it was easy to see why. This was not just a job for him but a passion. He shared with us the history of the Mayan people; the linguistics behind their language, explaining how it developed thousands of years B.C.; the connection to today’s Mexican and North American culture; and he had an inner joy that emanated from within. No surprise, the best guide in Belize…and he loves what he does.
Find your love. Do whatever it takes to do so. If you’re not doing what you love, take the time to reevaluate, write down exactly what you do want and you might find, as Joe Perillo did, that you are doing it. If not, go after it with all your might. It will be worth everything it takes to find it. It might seem like a lot of work but remember; when you do what you love you’ll never work another day in your life!
