The Great Teal Pumpkin

The Great Teal Pumpkin
Halloween may have arguably the best candy selection out of all holidays,
and it’s the perfect time of year to indulge in a little treat.
Unfortunately, not every child or adult that goes trick-or-treating can enjoy the plethora of candy and baked goods offered up due to their allergies.
Thanks to the Teal Pumpkin Project
there is now a way to identify homes that have allergy-friendly and non-food treats being passed out during trick-or-treating.

Below are a few tips and tricks for enjoying the Halloween season if you have food allergies or are simply watching what you eat.

    1. Plan your trick-or-treating route or candy selection in advance.

Making sure you know which homes on the block cater to children with dietary restrictions can make trick-or-treating a smoother process. There
are many popular candies that are free of the most common eight allergens including nuts, dairy, fish and other ingredients.

    1. Look up homes that participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project.

Treat buckets don’t have to be filled with just candy. Thanks to the Teal Pumpkin Project, trick-or-treaters can now enjoy receiving small toys
or non-edible treats in their bags or buckets.

  1. Provide premade Halloween goodie bags with crafts, toys and unique candy alternatives to household members before going trick-or-treating.

Making sure everyone has something to look forward to enjoying before or after attending Halloween-themed events will keep everyone happy.

Halloween is all about creativity. Don’t just limit that to your costume. Be creative with your snacks, treats and tricks!
